The sharpening process starts with
ordinary sandpaper. After the sandpaper
stage is completed, it's time for the leather
belts or sleeve. The first step is to apply a little honing
compound to the leather. Apply the compound while
the leather is not under power-this will help conserve
the compound. Once the cutting edge is applied to the
leather belt or sleeve, the tool will be done in minutes.

quickly build up a super fast cutting slurry. The grit sequence
creates an efficient cutting schedule that keeps you from

The Veritas
Honing Guide
has been redesigned,
increasing
its range,
capacity and
accuracy. The
main difference
in the MK11 is
its blade registration
system
that squares the blade and sets the bevel in one easy step.
The guide has 3 gross bevel angle configurations, 25° to
54°, 15° to 40° and a third for back bevels. Each one has
incremental adjustments within each range to enable you
to perfectly hone in on the desired angle. The Veritas MK11
can easily accommodate chisels as narrow as 1/4" and
blades as wide as 2-7/8" and up to 1/2" thick.

6" 3 Stone Sharpening System
All Japanese stones are man made which means they are
free of impurities and have a very consistent grit size. Only
water is needed to lubricate the cutting stones. Since the
stones are relatively soft, they are constantly exposing new
grit with each stroke. Another benefit of the stone is the way
they build up an abrasive sludge when used. This "loose"
grit is what helps the stones give their excellent finish. No
stropping or polishing compound is needed when using these
waterstones because they polish as they hone.
